Kate Smith

BOccThy, uq

Kate is our principal occupational therapist and founder. Kate started Allied Therapy Network with the goal of supporting the community to access quality health services locally. Prior to commencing work in private practice, Kate worked locally for Queensland Health at Ipswich Hospital as well as Disability Services and remains committed to supporting the health of the local community in her current role. Kate has also worked in aged care during her undergraduate degree and continues to enjoy working with older adults to optimise their function and occupational engagement.

Kate has a special interest in oedema management and first began working in this area in 2009; Kate has since completed post-graduate qualification through Macquarie University’s ALERT program in lymphoedema management and is currently completing credentialling in management of chronic wounds and scar management.

Clinically, Kate works with adults to support their unique occupational goals using a variety of therapeutic modalities. Kate works holistically to support clients towards their goals and enjoys working collaboratively to support the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of others.

Outside of work, Kate is a mum of 4 young children and enjoys the busy-ness of daily life. She loves being a mother (her favourite occupational role!) as well as working in her garden. Kate also enjoys early morning runs and describes this as her ‘therapy’.
